Cable Ties and Moisture To prevent brittleness and cracking, a certain amount of moisture is incorporated into the Nylon 6/6 material that makes cable ties. Over time, this added moisture can evaporate; especially in dry conditions with low relative humidity. The following steps will help cable ties maintain their pliability and tensile strength: • Cable ties should be stored in the manufacturer’s original packaging until ready for use. • Partial cable tie bags should be closed or sealed if at all possible. Several drops of water can be added to the bag to provide moisture. • Cable ties should not be stored in an unheated warehouse or similar location. • Cable ties inventory should be rotated frequently and used within one year of purchase.
